Whooping Cough in pregnancy

There has recently been a rapid rise in whooping cough, with a big increase in young babies. Due to this information it is important that we protect those young babies who may suffer. The babies that suffer are usually too young to have their first vaccinations, therefore the only way pregnant ladies can protect their baby is to have the vaccination themselves while they are pregnant. The best time to get the vaccination is between 28 and 32 weeks. Please contact the surgery for more information.

Pneumonia

Anyone aged 65 and over is entitled to Pneumonia vaccinations from the NHS. If you fall into this age catagory and have not previously had this vaccination please contact the surgery, for an appointment.

pills_boxYou may still order a repeat prescrition via one of the usual ways. Please bring or send the counterfoil to the surgery two working days before the prescription is needed, stating clearly which items are required.  If you enclose a stamped addressed envelope your prescription will be posted.  If you would like your prescription delivered to the pharmacy please remember to tell the receptionist or note this on the counterfoil.

You may also fax your prescription request using the prescription counterfoil.  Please clearly tick the items you require.  This slip can be faxed any time of day or night to 01736 332118.

You may email your prescription request via the form on the link above or email to prescriptions.penalverne@nhs.net Please do not phone for prescriptions as this ties up the phone for incoming emergencies and can cause incorrect prescriptions, which may be unsafe.

For Pendeen dispensing patients only: please order your prescription as above. Your medication will be ready for collection 2 Pendeen surgery days after ordering.

The Waiting Room
